December Store Update

Just got a handful of Sprot's Summer of Sprot single from the always impressive Wormworm Grasshopper label from way down Tasmania way. Sprot is workings of Brisbane wonder duo Matt Earle (xNoBBQx, Muura, general Breakdance the Dawn tomfoolery) and Adam Park (X Wave). Two kinds of covers on this one, you either get a color collage or a black and white photocopy. Both great. A coin toss determines which you get. Listen Here: Sprot - Summer of Sprot by Wormwood grasshopper And buy here. $8

Also just reactivated the paypal tab for the Garbage and the Flowers Stoned Rehearsal LP over in the store, but if you don't felling like going over there, here's one as well.  If you missed it last year, this is your last chance for redemption. $15

November Update

In a few days we’ll have a few copies of The Garbage and the Flower’s great Stoned Rehearsal LP for those who missed it the first time around. Keep your eyes on this page, when its gone, its gone for good.

Just in time for the winter freeze we will also have the vinyl debut from Love Chants. Anthony Guerra’s (Black Petal records)new band featuring Michael Zulicki (Albert’s Basement) on guitar and Matt Earle (Breakdance the Dawn) on drums. But don’t think of it like a super-group of happening Australian label execs blasting damaged arena rock or something. These are some delicate, poignant late night numbers to put your head right before bed. If the slower numbers from the third Velvets record got boiled down to their essence, only Mo couldn’t make the session so Lou strong armed a hungover Milford Graves to sit behind the kit. The wait is almost over! On August 9th, 2012 we'll have the Satanic Rockers' debut single available on this very site. Much like the teen who stumbles on a copy of the Necronomicon in an abandoned cabin and reads a few lines on a lark, this could could go one of two ways. Ah, who are we kidding, it can only go one way and we are truly sorry. Best to have a copy of the single on you--the soul sucking demons may take it easy on ya.

Also on the 9th, we'll have Kitchen's Floor "Live in Brisbabe" ready for you. This is the much anticipated vinyl reincarnation of their amazing "Too Dead To Notice" tape. Remastered and cut at 45RPM for maximum uumph, you'll think Matt and company are in your very living room. Now, whether you think that's a good idea or not, we leave to your discretion. Best to hide the fine China, just in case.

Copies of both will be available from you favorite stores and mail orders.

Quemada Satanic Summer 2012

We have two new ones to help you conduct your summertime activities with the right amount of evil. Expect em in late July/early August. Details forthcoming. Hang tight, friends, Satan IS coming!

First up is the debut single from the Satanic Rockers who take our beloved warm blanket DIY and douse in heavy, vile satanic goop. Imagine Paul Leary taking over lead duties for the Instant Automatons. Your daughters are not safe. Full length before too long on Albert's Basement/Sunshine and Grease/Black Petal/Own Time.......Believe  Satanic Rockers-Eviction by Quemada Records

It seems like its been in the works for forever, but we should also have ready Kitchen's Floor "Live in Brisbane," a 12 inch vinyl edition of the Too Dead to Notice CS, originally released by Negative Guest List in 2010.
The  record captures Kitchen's Floor stripped down to the essentials of Matt Kennedy on the acoustic and Julia Norris on drums (her last show) aided by Andrew McLellan on organ. Its been remastered and includes liner notes for the occasion. Here's a video :

Store Update

Got another little update to add to the international delights over in the store.

First, from Northern Europe via Italy's Avant! label we have "The Glass House Etiquette" split seven inch from Lust for Youth and War originally issued as a tape on Posh Isolation. Two murky bands, one song each filled with damaged synthesizers, heavy beats, and disembodied vocals. Yep. Did we mention murky? Hear the War track here. Not too many of these floating around in North America. Get it now. Only $7

Next up from the southern hemisphere we got ourselves a few copies of the Moffarfarrah single courtesy of Albert's Basement. Beautifully abstract pieces for solo voice in a nice handmade cover. Pleasantly unsettling. Need proof? listen here. $7

Mad Nanna LP ON NGL

Well well well, got a small stack on the new I Make Blood Better LP from the best band going, Mad Nanna. A liberal reworking of the Goaty tape that came out a bit ago and a must have if there ever was one. What are you waiting for?
Here's a video of one of the peppier numbers to get you motivated:

And if you have 12 minutes to spare, I recommend you spend it on this live take of another of the songs on the album.

Lakes Single Out Now

We are very proud to announce that the new single from Melbourne’s Lakes is ready and available for purchase. For the uninitiated, Lakes is the solo outlet for Sean Bailey’s not so cheery take on the world. Sean has been a constant in the Melbourne musical landscape for quite a while. In addition to running the Inverted Crux label he has played is such diverse group settings including, but not limited to, Paeces, Wasted Truth, Tax, and The (Australian) Vivian Girls.
Lakes is Sean’s bleak punk, dark folk creature. There is no mistaking the Lakes signature sound, but those who have been following Lakes' development over the course of 12 releases can attest that Sean has methodically built on to the gothic Lakes skeleton heard on the earliest releases to where we last heard from him on last year’s Winter’s Blade LP where the Lakes monster was given quite a bit of muscle in large part to a tweak in the recording process. This single picks up where Winter’s Blade left off with perhaps with an extra level of heavy and gloom applied to the structure. Listen to the A side here to see what we mean.

Get it now. $5.50

Mad Nanna and Mole House singles-Out Now!

Starting of the new year with a bang!

QUE 004: Mad Nanna-“I Hit a Wall” 7”
We have here the new 7inch single from Mad Nanna. Mad Nanna have quietly built up an impressive discography in a relatively short span with releases on Goaty, Eggy, Wormwood Grasshopper, and their own amazing Albert’s Basement. The A side is an anthem for the ages (by Nanna standards). It lurches and stumbles, makes strides, waltzes and wobbles but manages to stay in a relatively straight line. The B side charges headlong through the muck and rides an early 90s Port Chalmers groove. Artwork is by one Antony Riddell, a Melbourne fixture, artist, author, member of the Weave Movement Theatre and one of the the mad geniuses responsible for the under-appreciated Volvox.

$5.50

QUE 003: Mole House-“Hey Come My Way” 7”
Can't be more excited to bring you debut from Mole House. Get to know em now. The band is made up of Carla dal Forno backed by a couple peeps from Mad Nanna and White Woods (Night People, Bellplay) and sounds like an even mixing of those two bands. A bit more jangle and hook than your typical date with Mad Nanna, but a bit sloppier than a make-out session with White Woods. Prime bummer pop through and through. Hear a little here.
